Pork Stakes On Offer in Alne!
Sunday 10th May 2009 saw over 100 people gathered in Alne for an afternoon of traditional Yorkshire pig racing.....! But don't worry, no 'porkers' were hurt in the event, in fact the pigs on offer were of the pink, fluffy variety and were racing to raise money for the Friends of Alne School and the local playgroup. Pigs by the name of 'Pinky-Perkster', 'Mite Fly' and 'Rushing Rasher' ran in a number of races including the 'Stephensons Pork Stakes'. Stephensons of Easingwold Ltd was proud to be one of several sponsors of this great fun event and delighted to see £400 raised by the end of the day.
