Hi folks

The Stephensons of Easingwold web site suggests some places to visit on the bus routes and asks for personal suggestions.

As a part of my work I take people walking in the country all year round, always using public transport, and use Stephensons services each year for walking in the Howardian Hills around Castle Howard, often initially departing from York.

Our walks have included:

  • Crambeck - Castle Howard
  • Slingsby - Castle Howard
  • Terrington - Castle Howard
  • Slingsby - Hovingham circular
  • Coneysthorpe - Slingsby Banks - Hall Moor - Castle Howard
  • Castle Howard circular (several)

The area is criss-crossed with good, well-signed paths and it's quite easy to make up a circular walk returning to the same bus stop, or to do a linear walk alighting at one stop but getting back on in a different place. Most average walkers should be able to work out routes from an OS map and there are walks published in the York Press which sometimes cover the area.

I hope this may prove of value to you.

Regards

Paddy Brooks
